Saturday 21st September saw North Berwick Rowing Club adventure south across the border for a “social row” up The Tweed. With only an hour’s drive to reach the start line we were relaxed and jovial on departure.

The sun shone and the warm sandy beach glowed as each of the 12 clubs slid their boats into the calm water of the river. Everyone expected an easy and maybe slightly boring row.

Back in NB now, but Day 6 (Sat) had five finals and NBRC competed in all of them. The wind got up a little bit so the races were a notch slower than previous days, but the competition was intense and with double points on offer for the open category it was all to play for in the overall club points competition.

It's been sunshine and fantastic conditions all week in Ullapool. Day 5 was the day of the over 40s with three finals to be contested. This was my big race hence more focussed on rowing than photos....apologies, but more will be forthcoming.

But it was worth it as the North Berwick 40+ men won a hotly contested final holding off the mighty Coigach and a strong surge from a rejuvenated Port Seton team.

Sadly there were no medals for North Berwick in the ladies 40+ or mixed 40+, but North Berwick finished the day in overall second place just behind Coigach.

Steffi had lined up a treat for the crowd involving music, dancing and cross-dressing (yes Medium and John in dresses), but best to wait for the video once I get it online.

Day 4 was a silver day, three of them in total for North Berwick in the Ladies 50+, the Mixed Open A and the Mixed Open B. There were four finals today with our 50+ men in a three way dogfight that almost got them a bronze medal but had to settle for fifth.

North Berwick finished the day in second place overall, behind Coigach.

Oh...and it's not all graft and competition, had a bit of time to take the kids out fishing...

Our 60+ men were clear in second place to take silver.

To top it off at the end of the day our ladies also won the Long Distance race postponed from yesterday. It wasn't a championship race but nonetheless North Berwick ladies led from beginning to end over a four mile course.
