The planking has commenced but there has been difficulty in installation of plank 2 as it did not want to sit on the moulds at the correct points. All the other builds are experiencing the same problem with even greater difficulty. We have now succeeded in installing it but a little "fairing" work will be required with "Long Boards" (long boards of plywood with 80 grit sandpaper attached).

The following work has been done this week: Both Garboard Planks installed.  Port 2nd Plank installed. Starboard 2nd Plank cut and scarfed with rebates cut both fore and aft. This plank has been dry fitted (no glue applied), and is ready to be glued in position.

Our regatta this year will be held on Saturday 29th August. We will have races around Craigleith, approx 1.8miles, which takes anything from 18-30 mins depending on conditions of water and crew! This year we'll be doing the prize giving in the Hope Rooms (where we serve teas) shortly after the last race.

*The Mixed Novice / Fresher event is a single race open to crews of Novice (never won a race) or Fresher (first year of rowing) rowers.

**60+ and U19 are two separate races that will go off at the same time. They will be handicapped races, meaning you can make up any combination of male or female rowers provided they are within the age category. For the juniors a handicap system will be used for each year band from aged 14 to 18, allowing younger teens to compete fairly against older ones. The handicap system will be used to adjust the times based on gender (and in the case of juniors, also age) and determine winning crew. If you have a 60+ crew and an U19 crew you'll need two boats, or borrow a boat, otherwise enter one category or the other.

Crews racing in “mixed” category events must have at least one male rower in the crew, and there must be at least 2 female rowers rowing at all times.

Please help us with our planning by getting your entries in ASAP, closing date for entries is 17th August 2015.

Our regatta this year will be held on Saturday/Sunday 24th-25th August. On Saturday we will have races around Craigleith, approx 1.8miles, which takes anything from 18-30 mins depending on conditions of water and crew! On Saturday night we will have a social event in North Berwick and on Sunday we will have social rowing perhaps to one of the nearby rocks or beaches as conditions allow.

We would like to encourage all clubs to come to North Berwick regatta, if we get enough entries from the newer clubs or clubs who don't have much race experience we plan to split each race category into an "A" race and a "B" race separated by a 5 minute interval. The objective being to provide an opportunity for all clubs to compete against comparable crews.

Following is the schedule with the clubs entered so far....

*The Mixed Novice / Mixed U19 event will be two races separated by a 5 minute interval. The expectation is that clubs will either enter the Mixed Novice race, or enter the Mixed U19 race. Of course if a club has two boats, it could enter both.

A "Novice" Rower shall be defined as a rower who has never won a rowing race in any competition against rowers from any other club in any competition of any rowing discipline prior to first day of the regatta.

Crews racing in "Mixed" category events must have at least one male rower in the crew. Not less than half the rowers at any time in the race must be female.

To allow us to finalise the program and allocate lanes, all entries must be in by Monday August 19th
