If you're interested in coastal rowing, we run taster sessions on Sundays. These outings are aimed at all levels - from new rowers to experienced seadogs. The aim is to get you out onto the water for a leisurely row in good company.

You'll get basic instruction from an experienced club cox and lifejackets will be provided. Non-members are welcome to come to up to 3 of these sessions for free to get a taste of rowing. When you inevitably fall in love with it, you can join the club for an annual membership of just £50!

Sign up for your Sunday taster session using the link below and you'll receive an email by Friday evening confirming your place and details of the cox for the session.

North Berwick Rowing Club members have been braving the cold throughout the winter months to keep their strength and skills up - in readiness for longer, warmer, spring days.

Everyone has a role to play at these Winter Training Sessions - from organising the crews, preparing the boats, coxing and rowing. This Saturday morning, having checked the weather and sea forecasts, we all looked over the sea wall to agree that we were comfortable with the conditions. There was a westerly wind, a drizzle and a falling tide. Our coach had suggested a straight forward training set that took us along the shore for one 8min piece but such was the strength of the wind it took 2 x 8min pieces to get back in!  Unusually, on our return, the slipway was being used by a commercial fishing boat which gave one of our newly trained coxes a chance to practice maneuvering in tight spaces.

It was a great morning in sporting conditions. Smiles all round.

North Berwick Rowing Club (NBRC) are excited to announce the launch of their first ever Skiff Camp for 14-17 year olds. In response to Scottish Government Covid guidelines indicating resumption of outdoor contact sports for 12-17 year olds on Monday 5 April, NBRC are inviting the young people in their community to be first to dip their toes back in the water after lockdown.

The Skiff Camp will consist of four coached rowing sessions, to take place at North Berwick on 5, 7, 9 and 11 April from 11am. The final session will involve an excursion to the nearby islands to view some wonderful wildlife. The aim of the Camp is to introduce rowing to a group of North Berwick youngsters in an enjoyable way. The entire group will be competent at boat handling and skiff rowing by the end of the week. After the Camp they will have an idea as to whether skiff rowing is something that they would like to pursue further. Those that wish to continue will have the opportunity to enjoy future competitions and expeditions, right through to representing their town at the Skiffieworlds 2022.

After a break of two years, Saturday saw the return of the North Berwick Regatta.

Billed as a “Regatta Lite”, the usual course around Craigleith was replaced with a straight 850m race across the East Bay which leant itself to more spectator friendly viewing.

For obvious reasons invitations this year were limited to local clubs, but the racing was no less competitive with a number of races resulting in the podium positions being separated by the closest of margins.

This year saw the inclusion of an U19 category for the first time and it was great to see all the hard work put in by junior coaches and crews across a number of clubs pay off with a thrilling race.

The regatta was topped and tailed by the arrival on Saturday from Port Seton and departure on Sunday to Dunbar of the Row Around Scotland baton, a relay race involving all St Ayles Skiff clubs in Scotland to celebrate 10 years of the Scottish Coastal Rowing Association.

Thanks must go to all the people that made the regatta such a success on the day, both on and off the water.

We are already looking forward to next year and hopefully will also be able to welcome back our friends at other clubs who weren’t able to be involved this time.

 More photos......

And we are on our travels again! We have headed West, South and East so it’s time for us to go North. All the way to the North Pole.

So NB to NP!!!! (There’s a t shirt there somewhere)

Once again you can contribute with your row, run, walk and cycle distances.

And now all you crazy swimmers out there can also take part and we will make sure we leverage your distance accordingly to reflect your effort.

It’s only 3 million metres so shorter than to New York but don’t forget it is up hill. If we get there in good time we can always turn round and come home with the tide behind us.

So click the Purple form to record your distances and we are on our way.
