Told you we were going to Port Seton, didn't mention though that we were rowing.....oh yes, 13 miles. The weather was perfect so an NBRC crew set off at the crack of dawn to get there in record time (although since we'd never rowed that before, any time would have been a record). The fitness app said 1700 calories burned, so on arrival we set about replenishing our energy with the excellent cakes on offer from our hosts. Get there early and you get the pick, I went for Banana Cake a Brownie a Cream Scone and a Fairy Cake, lovely.

The emphasis was on fun and friendliness for this regatta which took place in Port Seton's harbour. Head to head sprint racing between two boats, in a pursuit style, tested the coxes and the rowers' ability to quicly fit into unfamiliar boats and scratch crews.

NBRC was well represented in all the mixed races, and was narrowly pipped in the decades race (to be competed by 4 rowers all from different decades).

There will be more serious racing type regattas to come this season, but this was a lovely relaxed start to the season enjoyed on a bright sunny day, fortunately the photos don't indicate the temperature which was ...refreshing.

Net result after taking into account 13 mile row, two heats, a final and a lot of cake....300 calories gained :-)
